The Group's ESG strategy focuses on making a difference to the environment, its people and its communities.

Across an extended period, Moonpig Group has contributed to society through its core purpose, which is to create better, more personal, connections between people that care about each other, and through its support for charities. We have built on these strong foundations during the past two years through ongoing delivery against the Group’s ESG strategy.

The Group’s ESG strategy commits it to eight long-term goals focused on the environment, its people and its communities. We focus on six of the United Nations’ seventeen Sustainable Development Goals that we consider most relevant to the business:

Throughout FY23 the key areas of ESG focus for the Group have been:

  • Continued delivery against our eight ESG goals.

We have maintained focus on the environment, our people, and the communities in which we operate. For a detailed FY23 review of our delivery against these goals, please see our FY23 Annual Report and Accounts (page 30).

  • Measuring value chain greenhouse gas (“GHG”) emissions

For FY23 we committed to implement a new environmental goal which recognised the importance of reducing indirect emissions in the Group’s value chain and would allow us to set Scope 3 reduction targets. We have achieved this commitment and have since measured the Group’s Scope 3 emissions by category to create a FY22 baseline and have set a new ESG goal to reduce the emissions intensity by 97%tCO2e/£1m Gross Profit by 2050.

  • Developing a climate transition plan.

The Board has approved the Group’s inaugural climate transition plan which sets out how the business plans to adapt to a low carbon economy.

  • Strengthening ESG disclosure.

The Group has commenced disclosure of climate-related metrics and targets in accordance with the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (“TCFD”) and made its first voluntary disclosure applying the SASB Standards.

Looking ahead

For FY24 the Group will continue to focus on the eight long-term ESG goals. Our eight goals are outlined below under the environment, people and communities focus areas. In addition, we have updated goal 1 and goal 2 to extend our emissions reduction targets so that they incorporate net zero for both operational and value chain emissions by 2050.
